Systems - GridPoint Intelligence - Override Profiles & HVAC Setpoint Overrides
This article will guide you through the process in GridPoint Intelligence to do a temporary Setpoint Override.

Override Profiles let you control how overrides behave across your sites, and HVAC setpoint overrides let you make a temporary comfort change. With Spaces, override settings are managed at the Space level: an override profile is assigned to a Space, and a temporary override applies to every HVAC zone in the Space at once.
Override Profiles
To create an easy way to control override settings across multiple sites, GridPoint Intelligence provides Override Profiles. An Override Profile sets the rules for what an override is allowed to do, and it is assigned to the Spaces you choose.
Creating Override Profiles
- Navigate to the Settings Library.
- At the bottom of the page is the Override Profiles section.
- The GridPoint Recommended Profile is set as the default.
- To create a new Override Profile, click the clock icon to the right of the Override Profiles section title.
- Name the new profile.
- Select the override parameters you would like applied for the profile.
- Allow Overrides: “This toggle allows the override profile to completely turn off override abilities for local sites.” Admins can change this profile as needed per standard procedure.
- Max Duration: “This dropdown allows for the maximum length of overrides to be selected for the override profile.” The maximum override period ranges from one (1) hour to twelve (12) hours.
- Max Temperature Change: “This is the maximum temperature change in degrees that can be selected for the override profile.” The maximum temperature change ranges from one (1) degree to ten (10) degrees.
- Allow Cancel on Schedule: “This toggle will flip the overridden unit back to regular schedule whenever there is a scheduled change.”
- For example: An override of a 2 degree decrease in temperature for 4 hours is implemented. The schedule would normally switch to a higher temperature around hour 3 because the site is no longer occupied (part of the standard Comfort Setting).
- If the toggle is set to allow cancel on schedule, the override turns off and returns to the standard comfort setting.
- If the toggle is set to off, the override continues for another hour then reverts to the standard comfort setting.
- For example: An override of a 2 degree decrease in temperature for 4 hours is implemented. The schedule would normally switch to a higher temperature around hour 3 because the site is no longer occupied (part of the standard Comfort Setting).

- The override profile can be edited at any time. After updating, those edits apply to every Space the override profile is currently assigned to.
- Click the three-dot icon next to the Override Profile name to Edit the Profile Name or Delete the profile.
Applying an Override Profile to a Space
You assign an Override Profile from a Space’s settings. The profile then governs overrides for every HVAC zone in that Space.
- Click the Sites button on the sidebar and select a site.
- Open the Spaces view for that site.
- Open Space Settings for the Space you want to change. You can reach it from the gear icon on the Space row, or from the Space’s three-dot menu by clicking Settings.
- Scroll to the Override Profile dropdown and select the profile you want to apply.

Applying an Override Profile to Multiple Spaces
To assign the same Override Profile to several Spaces at once, use the bulk actions on the Assets page.
- Click the Assets button on the sidebar to open the Assets page, where thermostats appear grouped under their Space.
- Use the Filter Assets dropdown and select Show Spaces.
- Select the Spaces you want to update by toggling their checkboxes on.
- Click the Apply Bulk Action button, then click Apply Override Profile.

- Select the Override Profile from the dropdown, then click Save.

Temporary HVAC Setpoint Override
A temporary setpoint override is a short-term comfort change. With Spaces, an override is placed on a Space and applies to every HVAC zone in that Space.
- Click the Assets button on the sidebar to open the Assets page. Thermostats appear grouped under their Space.
- On the Space you want to adjust, click the stopwatch icon on the Space row to start an override.

- In the override dialog, set the override:
- Slide the snowflake or fire control left or right to set the heating and cooling setpoints.
- Select a Duration. The available durations are limited by the Space’s Override Profile (up to its Max Duration).
- Choose the HVAC Mode and Fan Mode.

- If the Space’s Override Profile has Allow Cancel on Schedule turned on, you will also see a Cancel on Schedule option:
- Cancel on Schedule OFF allows the override to run for the entire selected duration.
- Cancel on Schedule ON reverts to the scheduled setpoint when the next scheduled change begins. The override is canceled and the Space returns to its normal schedule until someone overrides it again.
- Save the override. It applies to every HVAC zone in the Space.
- While an override is active, the Space shows an Override indicator. To end it, click Cancel Space Override (the cancel icon on the Space row). This cancels the override for the whole Space.

Note: “A temporary override applies to every HVAC zone in the Space. It runs for the duration you select, up to the maximum allowed by the Space’s Override Profile.”
